We Honor Veterans is a project of the National Hospice Palliative Care Organization in collaboration with the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA). These groups invited hospices throughout the country to join a pioneering program focused on respectful inquiry, compassionate listening, and grateful acknowledgment of veteran patients and their families.
By recognizing the unique psychological, physical and emotional needs of veterans, Partners In Care’s interdisciplinary teams (comprised of nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains and volunteers) are more equipped to provide the best care for veterans.
The need for educating home health and hospice professionals in Central Oregon is of immediate importance when considering the following statistics:
ü More than 1,800 veterans die every day in this country—that’s about 54,000 people a month*
ü Dying veterans represent a quarter of all deaths in the U.S.*
ü Only four percent of veterans die in VA facilities*
