Adult Grief Support
Grief is a natural and universal response to the death of a loved one. We understand that there are no right or wrong ways to grieve, but there are healthy ways to cope with loss. Our specially trained, professional grief counselors can help and support adults and children during this difficult time.
Partners In Care offers a variety of opportunities and support for families, friends and the community when a loved one dies. Our ongoing grief support and education for adults and children is available to everyone in the community, not just our patients. Camp Courage helps children understand and express their loss using a variety of fun and meaningful tools. In 2022, Camp Courage will be conducted by Clear Mourning, an Oregon nonprofit organization.
Grief Programs and Support Groups
The Bereavement Department at Partners In Care is offering the following virtual support groups during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Summer and Fall 2022 groups listed below:
A NEW SUPPORT GROUP – Healing Grief with Mindful Self-Compassion
Research indicates that self-compassion and mindfulness reduces anxiety and depression as well as enhances overall well-being. Over a ten-week period, the participants will focus on building long lasting mindfulness and self-compassion skills to support their grief process. Tuesdays – 10:00am to Noon – July 12 to September 20 – (no sesssion on August 30)
Spousal Loss Support Group
A support group for men and women who have lost a spouse or significant other. This eight-week group will provide a safe place for individuals to share the journey toward healing after the death of a partner. Please call to pre-register at the number provided below.
Thursdays – 10:00am to 11:30am September 15 to November 3
Grief Support Group
Reinvesting in life after loss is less painful when the journey is shared with others. In this eight-week group, participants will find hope, connection, and solace together. Please call to pre-register at the number provided below.
Mondays – 5:00pm – 6:30pm September 12 to November 7 – (no session October 31)
Mindfulness and Grief Class
The eight-week class defines mindfulness and offers instruction on managing the grief process with mindfulness tools such as present moment awareness and using meditation and the breath to stabilize difficult emotions and intrusive thoughts that occur related to grief. Managing Grief Through the Holiday Season
For most people experiencing loss, the holiday season is the most painful time of all. The four-week class will provide suggestions for reducing holiday stress as well as support for members during a very emotionally challenging season. Please call to preregister at the number provided below.
