Caregiver Cafe: Destination Rehab

Join us this month for a Caregiver Cafe with Destination Rehab. Destination Rehab is an incredible physical therapy program that empowers individuals with neurological conditions to regain strength, confidence, and independence through the transformative power of outdoor activities. With expert care from our physical therapists and a supportive, collaborative environment, participants can connect with others who understand their struggles and truly thrive. During Caregiver Cafe, you'll learn: -How Destination Rehab works with people with neurologic conditions -How to stay motivated as you navigate your mobility limitations -Adaptive equipment and technology that we utilize with clients -Programs and services offered by Destination Rehab Caregiver Cafe is the first Wednesday of every month from 10 - 11 am in the Wyatt Room at Partners In Care. As part of the City of Bend Welcoming Week, The Tower Theatre, Partners In Care, Council On Aging and Bend Film, Welcomes Unpaid Family Caregivers to a Movie Night. Unpaid caregivers are typically family members who provide care for those who cannot care for themselves. Caregivers are vulnerable to burnout and isolation, which has negative consequences for the caregiver and the one being cared for. For our immigrant and refugee neighbors who experience additional barriers, such as language, literacy, or navigation of resources, the risks are higher. Caregiver Cafe: Caring for Veterans

Join us Wednesday, November 1 from 10 - 11 am for our monthly Caregiver Cafe! This month, as we celebrate National Family Caregiver Month and honor veterans for Veterans Day, we offer a slightly different Caregiver Cafe. Sit down with other veterans and caregivers to have an open discussion with Amber Lynch, VA Caregiver Support Coordinator, to learn about support and options available for caregivers. Did you know that the VA has a program specifically to support caregivers? The VA Caregiver Support Program (CSP) offers services to caregivers of eligible and covered Veterans enrolled in the VA health care system. The program’s mission is to promote the health and well-being of family caregivers who care for our Nation’s Veterans, through education, resources, support, and services. There are two different programs, which Amber will go through during this session, and different support available depending on eligibility of the veteran. Join us to learn more! Any caregiver of a veteran is welcome to attend, even if they do not know if they are eligible for either program.

Light Up a Life

Join us for our annual Light Up a Life event at Partners In Care, to honor, remember, and share the light together as a community. This year, our Light Up a Life evening will feature a luminaria walk, live music, and name reading ceremony in memory of loved ones who have passed and to honor those still with us. This event is free and open to the public to attend. Refreshments will be provided. Clear Mourning helps shift the culture surrounding grief and to hold space for those who have experienced a tragic loss. Every person should have the opportunity and freedom to grieve their loss. Gain an understanding of: Different types of dementia Early signs and symptoms How self-assessments like 'SAGE' work How to talk to your doctor and resources available in the community Hear from Joelle Blanchard from the Partners In Care team. Joelle is a candidate for a master’s in social work from Portland State University. She has worked in hospice for seven years after experiencing a personal loss.
