Dementia Caregiving and Telehealth: the Tele-Stella Project

Join Partners In Care as we speak with Dr. Allison Lindauer from Oregon Health & Science University’s Layton Aging and Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. During this presentation, you will learn about support for caregivers in rural settings, known as the Tele-STELLA Project. Tele-STELLA (Support via Technology: Living and Learning with Advancing Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias) uses a well-known program to provide education and support to family caregivers. On the first Wednesday of each month, from 10 - 11 am, we invite those caring for others in the community to come together at Partners In Care for resources, mingling, shared experiences, and light refreshments. Each month, Partners In Care will be hosting a new speaker and information. If you are caring for someone and cannot leave them, bring them! We do not want this to be a barrier to anyone attending. The intent is everyone feels welcome and feels a sense of calm during what can be a very challenging time in your life. Whether you are caring for an older adult, a younger adult, a loved one, a parent, a friend, or a neighbor, join us for these monthly Caregiver Cafes.

Tools to Support Veterans as a Loved One, Caregiver, or Healthcare Provider

Join us for this in-person Community Education event in the Wyatt Room at Partners In Care on May 19 at noon. Memorial Day is a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. It can also be a challenging day for many veterans who experienced the loss of a brother or sister in arms. Our panel of experts have worked to support veterans in our community, and they will discuss: • Methods of communication to foster a trusting environment • Tools that can be used to ease discomfort • Ways to be present, show empathy, and act with compassion to bring peace to a veteran struggling with past trauma, especially at end of life *Parking is available at 2611 NE Courtney Drive in Bend. During this free discussion, you will learn about FAST (the signs and symptoms of a stroke), how to respond, and recovery. A light lunch will be provided. Caregiver Cafe: Brick by Brick

Join Partners In Care and Patty Sherin with 'Brick by Brick bonding' on July 5 from 10 - 11 am for an immersive, interactive Caregiver Cafe. Patty Sherin is a lover of the brick. Patty shares her love of Duplo LEGOⓇ bricks and pieces with seniors and their care partners to practice mindful acceptance, embrace self-care, release expectations and develop good support systems. Patty has encouraged seniors living with dementia to build with LEGO bricks and pieces as a way to bring out joy and laughter. Prior to the pandemic Patty worked with Memory Care Communities. Now she shares what she’s learned with family caregivers. As a Certified Caregiver Consultant and creator of Brick By Brick Bonding™ she understands the fatigues and challenges that plague caregivers and have found tips and strategies to help throughout the caregiving journey.
