Dementia Caregiving and Telehealth: the Tele-Stella Project

Join Partners In Care as we speak with Dr. Allison Lindauer from Oregon Health & Science University’s Layton Aging and Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. During this presentation, you will learn about support for caregivers in rural settings, known as the Tele-STELLA Project. Tele-STELLA (Support via Technology: Living and Learning with Advancing Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias) uses a well-known program to provide education and support to family caregivers. Memorial Day is a time to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. It can also be a challenging day for many veterans who experienced the loss of a brother or sister in arms. Our panel of experts have worked to support veterans in our community, and they will discuss: • Methods of communication to foster a trusting environment • Tools that can be used to ease discomfort • Ways to be present, show empathy, and act with compassion to bring peace to a veteran struggling with past trauma, especially at end of life *Parking is available at 2611 NE Courtney Drive in Bend. As part of the City of Bend Welcoming Week, The Tower Theatre, Partners In Care, Council On Aging and Bend Film, Welcomes Unpaid Family Caregivers to a Movie Night. Unpaid caregivers are typically family members who provide care for those who cannot care for themselves. Caregivers are vulnerable to burnout and isolation, which has negative consequences for the caregiver and the one being cared for. For our immigrant and refugee neighbors who experience additional barriers, such as language, literacy, or navigation of resources, the risks are higher.
